A journey from the frozen waters to the warmth of a traditional Lappish kota.

Your private journey begins on a secluded frozen lake, where your local host welcomes you into one of Lapland's oldest traditions. Surrounded by silent forests and vast Arctic landscapes, you will learn how generations of local people have lived in harmony with nature and relied on these waters throughout the changing seasons.

Before fishing begins, your guide shares stories about the surrounding wilderness, the history of the area and the different fish species living beneath the ice. You'll discover how experienced locals read the landscape, choose the best fishing spots and understand the lake throughout the winter.

Then it is your turn. Drill your own hole through the ice, prepare the fishing gear and experience the peaceful anticipation that makes traditional ice fishing so special. There is no rush here—only the quiet rhythm of nature and the simple joy of being fully present.

After your time on the lake, continue to a traditional Lappish kota nestled in the forest. As the fire crackles in the centre of the shelter, relax and enjoy a homemade meal prepared over an open fire using local ingredients and family recipes passed down through generations. If fortune has favoured your fishing, your own catch can also become part of the soup, making the experience even more personal.

Menu
Main Course: Traditional homemade Lappish fish soup prepared with locally caught fish and served with fresh bread and butter.

Dessert: Homemade blueberry pie served with traditional Finnish black pot coffee, slowly brewed over an open fire in a soot-blackened kettle.

Around the fire, there is time to slow down, share stories and embrace the simple luxury of authentic Lappish hospitality.
