A journey from the frozen waters to the warmth of a traditional Lappish kota.
Your private journey begins as you leave the familiar surroundings behind and enter the peaceful forests of Lapland. Guided by your local host, you will travel by snowmobile through the winter landscape, comfortably seated in a traditional sled and warmly wrapped in soft reindeer hides.
The journey through the forest is an essential part of the experience. As you travel through the snow-covered landscape, the pace slows and the quiet of the Arctic surrounds you. The forest, the changing winter light and the open landscape become part of the experience itself.
Arriving at a peaceful frozen pond embraced by the surrounding forest, your local guide introduces you to traditional ice fishing as it has been practised by Lappish families for generations. You will learn how local knowledge helps identify suitable fishing areas, how to understand the frozen waters and how to adapt to the changing conditions of winter.
You will prepare your own fishing spot, drill through the ice and settle into the calm rhythm of fishing. With guidance from your local host, you can experience the patience and attentiveness that are part of traditional fishing — taking the time to observe your surroundings and let nature set the pace.
During the fishing session, enjoy a warm Arctic picnic luch prepared right beside the frozen pond. A traditional grill travels with you behind the snowmobile and is brought onto the ice, allowing lunch to be prepared in the middle of the forest landscape. Gather around the warmth of the fire, enjoy local flavours and take in the silence and beauty of the winter surroundings.
When the experience comes to an end, return through the forest by snowmobile, carrying with you the memory of a private Arctic journey shaped by nature, tradition and the warmth of local hospitality.
